Jeremy Strand, Young Adults Pastor

Where did you grow up?

I grew up near Little Cottonwood Canyon along the Wasatch Front in Sandy, Utah.

How and when were you called into ministry

The Lord really began to draw me in between 2009-2011 when I began to have strong encounters with the Holy Spirit. These encounters completely changed my perception and my relationship with Him as the things I knew in my mind began to sink into my heart by the reality of His love and power. Up until this time there were different areas that I was involved in ministry but, because of these encounters, I knew that He had a new direction for me and I chose to lose everything else to be fully committed to Him and His purpose in my life.

What’s your passion in ministry?

My first passion is to grow in the likeness of Jesus. I truly believe that His invitation for us is to do the works that He did and to be One with Him so that everywhere we go and everyone we encounter, we’re a walking representation of Himself. As to specific ministry, I am passionate and enthusiastic about inspiring and discipling the younger generation in this crucial time of their life so that they may be enraptured by the love and majesty of Jesus and to follow Him wholeheartedly.

Favorite Bible verse and why?

This is a tough one because there are so many! But my favorite passage of Scripture is John 14-17 and if I had to choose one chapter it would be John 15. To me, everything about abiding in Jesus is the root branches in the world.

Spare time activities you enjoy?

I love to go on adventures with my wife Lydia; no matter if it’s driving to a new Colorado town or flying across the world to a country we’ve never been to – just spending time with her is a joy. I also love to write music and play guitar with friends in an inventive and creative way. When I have a free day I like to get a pack together with my travel guitar and head up a new trail I’ve never been to before.

Favorite place you’ve visited?

Israel without a doubt! The Sea of Galilee and surrounding towns were our favorite but there are too many amazing locations there to mention.

Favorite food?

The edible kind! But if I had to choose one, I really love middle-eastern food.

Something most people don’t know about me?

Ever since I was a boy I will spontaneously sing well-known songs but change lyrics on the spot like Weird Al or I will style the lyrics to a ‘posh’ old English dialect. But it can’t be done by demand, it has to be spontaneous and in the moment!

Favorite book other than the Bible?

I’ve never really been a fictional reader but I’d say it’s a tie between Andrew Murray’s Humility and Abide in Christ.
