Nicki Nickerson
Children’s Ministry Director

Where did you grow up?

San Diego, CA

How and when were you called into ministry?

I was gradually called into ministry throughout College, but it wasn’t until the beginning of 2016 did I really sense that God was calling me to full-time ministry. Since I was in 2nd grade I had always wanted to be a classroom teacher and I went to college to become a teacher. During college, I was a Children’s Ministry Intern at the church I attended and I began to sense that being a classroom teacher might not be where God was calling me. The more I talked with my family and mentors I realized that I no longer wanted to be a classroom teacher, but a Children’s Pastor. I then made the decision to enroll at Denver Seminary in the fall. Then when the position at Bear Valley opened, I knew that I was where God wanted me to be.

What’s your passion in ministry?

It is my passion to walk and grow daily in the image of Christ. We are all called to be His hands and feet and it is my desire that as I serve those around me, they know that Christ resides within me. More specifically, I love partnering with parents as they lead their children to know God on a personal level.

Favorite Bible verse and why?

“And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.” Isaiah 30:25

This is such a great reminder that no matter where we decide to go or what we do, God is always there.
